BRADLEY STREET DINING PRECINCT OPENS AT WESTFIELD WODEN

Scentre Group (ASX: SCG) today unveiled its new Bradley Street Dining precinct at Westfield Woden, bringing six new restaurants to the South of Canberra as part of a $21 million redevelopment.

Crowds gathered to sample from the five restaurants that opened on Canberra’s new ‘eat street’ this morning: Fenway Public House, The Bavarian, Sushi Musa, Espresso Warriors X Sugar Rush Dessert Bar and North East. The sixth restaurant, Golden Child, is set to open mid-year.  Catering to locals who love eating out and socialising with family and friends, all the restaurants are first-to-market concepts or new to the ACT, serving up everything from pub fare and craft beers, coffee and dessert bar, to modern Vietnamese dishes, and fresh sushi delivered by South Canberra’s first sushi train.

Celebrations kicked off at 8am with live music performed by popular local band The Faumuis. There were particularly long queues at The Bavarian’s first Canberra restaurant as customers waited to get one of the 500 hot dogs that were given away to mark the opening. The festivities will continue today and over the weekend with performances planned from morning to night, along with a Chandon S bar serving complimentary sparkling wine.

Designed to be the ‘new local’ for customers in the surrounding suburbs, the dining precinct has been brought to life with edgy artworks from some of Canberra’s best indigenous and street artists and completed with greenery and landscaping, making it a vibrant and welcoming place for the community.

Scentre Group General Manager, Development, Roy Gruenpeter said: “This vibrant new dining precinct at Westfield Woden brings an unrivalled dining experience to the south of Canberra which we are confident the locals will love. We have created the Bradley Street Dining offer with our customers and the local community in mind, curating a mix of restaurants that will suit any taste or occasion.  We look forward to being the ‘new local’ for our customers.”

In continued celebration for the precinct opening, Westfield Woden will host additional festivities across the entire centre from 26th to 28th April. There will be something for the whole family to enjoy from live music to roving entertainment the Bradley Street Dining precinct will come alive, with more activity throughout the centre including a Wonder Park (Movie) zone, grazing tables, give aways, offers and more.

A hub for the local community, the centre has been operating for over 46 years. Westfield Woden’s new dining precinct will complete the Bradley Street offering which was already home to Grill’d, Rashays and San Churro and adjacent to Westfield Woden’s HOYTS Cinema complex. Westfield Woden has more than 240 retailers, including David Jones, Big W, Coles and Woolworths.
