Scentre Group inherits Westfield Group’s long and successful track record of shopping centre development in Australia and New Zealand.

Since its establishment in 2014 Scentre Group has commenced $1.3 billion worth of projects and maintains a future development pipeline in excess of $3 billion.  In 2015 the Group commenced $830 million in new developments including Chatswood in Sydney and North Lakes in Brisbane. Both these projects, along with Kotara in Newcastle and Hurstville in Sydney were completed in November 2015.  In 2016 a project at Casey in Melbourne was completed and other projects currently underway Warringah in Sydney, and the second stage of North Lakes and Chermside in Brisbane. A number of additional centres remain in pre-development activity.

Westfield Marion is located 12kms south of the Adelaide CBD and is the largest shopping centre in South Australia with a GLA of 135,241sqm. It comprises over 330 specialties, an 800-seat food court, and one of the largest cinemas in Australia. Works commencing in late 2015 will create a fresh food market with a new ALDI supermarket and around 14 specialty food retailers.

Westfield North Lakes – Brisbane

Westfield North Lakes is located 25 kilometres north of Brisbane’s CBD in one of the region’s fastest growing areas. The centre is well positioned with direct access to the M1 motorway, linking the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Westfield North Lakes serves a trade area population of close to 360,000 people, with a total spending capacity over $4 billion. Anchored by major retailers including Myer, Target, BIG W, Coles and Woolworths, the centre continues to experience strong sales growth year on year. In November 2015 an $80 million project opened with a new fresh food market and a casual dining precinct and a state-of-the-art children’s playground. An Events Cinemas complex opened at Easter 2016 and a new project currently underway will add a further 60 stores including K-Mart and JB Hi-FI HOME in a new mall connecting the existing centre to a new IKEA-owned store currently under construction. The project is due for completion by late 2016 in time for the Christmas period.

The $355 million redevelopment of Westfield Chermside includes the construction of a second level gallery mall with around 95 retailers, which will connect with the upper levels of Myer and David Jones department stores, and a new entertainment and lifestyle leisure precinct. The new gallery mall is scheduled to open in April 2017, with the leisure precinct to follow some months after.

The plans feature a town centre surrounded by active street fronts and exceptional public spaces, contemporary double-height retail and a modern roof-top entertainment precinct.

Westfield Kotara is one of two major shopping centres to serve metropolitan Newcastle, located 6 kilometres south-west of Newcastle’s CBD. The centre caters to a trade area population of approximately 382,000 residents and offers 260 retailers across a broad range. Westfield Kotara has a strong fashion offer and is home to Newcastle’s only David Jones department store . In November 2015 a $55 million project was completed with new rooftop dining and entertainment precinct with 9 new restaurants and a performance stage. An 8-screen Event Cinemas complex will open in December 2015.

Westfield Chatswood is located in the affluent Northern Suburbs of Sydney, approximately 11 kilometres from the CBD. The centre has 274 retailers and caters to a trade area population of close to 435,000 residents. Located in the heart of Chatswood’s CBD, the centre also benefits from standing amongst the large office workforce in this area. In November 2015 a $125 million project was completed with a major upgrade to the Victoria Avenue facade, new international fast fashion and specialty stores, and an authentic Asian dining market.
