Scentre Group inherits Westfield Group’s long and successful track record of shopping centre development in Australia and New Zealand.

Since its establishment in 2014 Scentre Group has completed $1.5 billion worth of projects and maintains a future development pipeline in excess of $3 billion.  In late 2016 a $310 million project was completed at Westfield Warringah Mall, with a $170 million project launched concurrently at Westfield North Lakes. Other projects completed during the year include Casey Central and the addition of fresh food and dining precinct at Westfield Marion.

A $355 million project at Westfield Chermside is currently underway, due to launch in the second quarter of 2017.

A number of additional centres remain in pre-development activity including proposed redevelopments at Westfield Carousel, Plenty Valley, Coomera and Newmarket in New Zealand.

The $355 million redevelopment of Westfield Chermside includes the construction of a second level gallery mall with around 95 retailers, which will connect with the upper levels of Myer and David Jones department stores, and a new entertainment and lifestyle leisure precinct. The new gallery mall is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2017, with the leisure precinct to follow some months after.

The first stage redevelopment of Westfield Whitford City will create a new casual dining and entertainment precinct which connects with a new eight-screen Event Cinemas complex and a relocated and expanded Rebel Sport. The existing piazza on the centre’s northern side will be transformed into the new casual dining precinct with ten new restaurants in a landscaped public space and will deliver an outdoor destination that celebrates the very best of Perth’s café culture.

The recently completed $310 million redevelopment of Westfield Warringah Mall has delivered a world-class fashion and lifestyle destination to Sydney’s north. A new two-level parallel mall is anchored by a refurbished and reconfigured Myer department store, with an additional 70 specialty retailers. The recently completed $170m Westfield North Lakes redevelopment incorporates a new IKEA store, linking to the existing centre by a 60-store retail mall anchored by K-Mart and JB Hi-Fi HOME. The redevelopment follows an earlier stage of the project, which open 12 months prior and included a fresh food market, new casual dining precinct and an Event Cinemas complex.
