Together with the community Westfield New Zealand has made a donation of $902,729.40 to the NZ Red Cross 2011 Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Westfield customers, retailers, staff and the local community have donated significantly for the people of Christchurch.

Westfield kick started the fund raising campaign with a $250,000 lump sum donation and thereafter matched all donations $1 for $1. The public’s generous donations alongside Westfield’s contribution bring the grand total to over $900,000.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of individuals, companies, schools, our retailers and own staff,” says Justin Lynch, Director, Westfield New Zealand.

The total donation of $902,729.40 is significant and will go some way towards helping the people of Canterbury rebuild their lives.”

Westfield Goes Red Day, a NZ Red Cross appeal collection, and the Westfield Wall of Wishes fundraising campaign across the 11 shopping centres was embraced by the community.

“The Wall of Wishes initiative invited customers to write a message of support has now been assembled into a 20 metre tribute at Westfield Riccarton to show the people of Christchurch and Canterburythey are in the heart and minds of the country.”\n\n
