This year we formalised our partnership with Jawun to support their Indigenous Secondment Program.
Jawun is an innovative not-for-profit that increases the capacity of Indigenous leaders, organisations and communities to achieve their own development goals. They facilitate long-term engagement, through partnerships with corporate, government and Indigenous Australia, to achieve locally driven aspirations.
For partners, working with Indigenous-led organisations offers powerful lessons in embedding values of trust and community accountability in the way they do business.
Secondees return with a deeper connection to Indigenous Australia and the motivation to pass on the lessons and experiences gained during their secondment within their own networks.
For Indigenous leaders, the partnerships provide access to a highly skilled and experienced network, presenting valuable opportunities for learning, collaboration and leadership development.
Kate Cutler, Employee Experience Manager said: “We’re excited to be realising the full extent of our partnership with Jawun.
“Initially our engagement focused on executive immersion into the West Kimberley and Inner Sydney Redfern and La Perouse.
“To date six Scentre Group executives have completed these valuable immersions and the feedback is always that it is a deeply personal and eye-opening learning experience.
“Through formalising our partnership with Jawun to include six-week secondee placements for our team members we are extending these learning opportunities throughout the business, accelerating our learning and our impact through the transfer of shared skills and expertise.”
Team members will have the opportunity to experience a secondment with organisations in the Inner Sydney communities of Redfern and La Perouse across 2026 and 2027.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and communities of the lands on which our business operates.
—We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to their Elders past and present.
—We recognise the unique role of Māori as Tangata Whenua of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
