Westfield North Lakes fresh food and dining Precincts opens today

Westfield North Lakes opens two new precincts today – The Marketplace fresh food and The Laneway al fresco dining – as part of its $80 million Stage 1 redevelopment, which will also see a brand new Event Cinemas open in the second quarter of 2016.

The Stage 1 project includes 17 new speciality retailers and a state-of-the-art children’s playground to serve the needs of the centre’s local family-based community.

The Laneway dining precinct provides a casual daytime atmosphere that will transform by night into a vibrant precinct with live entertainment, and will eventually link directly to the new Event Cinemas. Restaurants including the Groove Train, Schnitz, Grill’d, Oi’Sushi, Kinn Thai, Noodle Haus and San Churro are set in a context inspired by the Queensland outdoors with abundance of greenery, natural light and timber finishes.
The new fresh food precinct takes its design cues from traditional growers’ markets with new retailers that include The Fruit Deli Co, The Healthshop, Pacific Catch Seafood, Trangs Kitchen, Willow Quality Meats, Santoshi Spice Market and Rosita Flowers. The Marketplace will also be home to a significantly expanded Coles supermarket – one of northern Brisbane’s biggest – and a relocated Aldi.

Westfield North Lakes Centre Manager, Jodie Gaske said: “We’re excited to welcome shoppers to the new and improved Westfield North Lakes. This centre has grown in tandem with the local community and we’re thrilled to offer them a destination that has everything they need -– from dining to entertainment, fashion, beauty and even kids play – under one roof.

“This is one of the fastest-growing regions in South East Queensland, linking the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This project, along with our Stage 2 redevelopment plans – which include a 60-store mall connecting Westfield North Lakes to the new IKEA store – will meet the growing needs of our local community.”

Westfield North Lakes first opened as a ‘greenfield’ shopping centre in 2003, with a redevelopment in early 2007 that doubled the number of stores and introduced Big W, Woolworths and a new food court. In 2008, a two-level Myer store opened. The centre now serves a burgeoning young trade area with a population of close to 360,000 people.
