Engaging with our customers and communities in ways that are relevant and meaningful to them is fundamental to our success.

Each Westfield destination is unique to meet the needs of the local communities we serve across Australia and New Zealand.

Every Westfield destination has a Community Plan that outlines what is most important and relevant in their community and identifies key community partners.

We work with local services and organisations, leaders, customers, community members and business partners to celebrate and support local opportunities, and raise awareness and respond to local challenges and the needs of the community.

Based on our Community Plans, we host centre events and exhibitions, as well as recognise cultural, community and Westfield Hero Local moments that resonate with our customers.

Examples of the other tailored experiences we deliver at our Westfield destinations include:

• celebrations of Diwali, Ramadan, Matariki, Eid al-Fitr, Hanukkah and Lunar New Year

• awareness raising NAIDOC Week celebrations

• safety initiatives such as Coffee with a Cop

• seniors’ events such as Westfield Walkers and Seniors Memory Cafes

• LGBTI+ inclusion and celebration through Mardi Gras activations

• family events

• charity gift wrapping at key retail moments such as Christmas and Mothers’ Day.

Community partnerships

Our community partnerships are designed to deliver shared value to our business and our communities, through the ongoing support of local organisations, clubs and groups that have broad reach and impact in our trade areas.

Our community partnership framework means all community partnerships are underpinned by the same aims:

• Westfield helps local organisations achieve their goals

• the partnership amplifies Westfield’s community connection through branding opportunities

• the partnerships attract organisations and members into Westfield destinations.

Each partnership is tailored to the local community and the partner organisation. We provide a combination of financial and in-kind contributions, including in-centre events, coverage on local Westfield digital channels, volunteers and opportunities to communicate with our Westfield members.

Access to recycling services

We offer local communities services and facilities to achieve their environmental goals. Across our Westfield destinations this includes:

• container deposit scheme facilities to recycle containers aligned to government recycling schemes

• the ability to donate clothing for charity and recycling

• hosting pop-up community recycling initiatives in partnership with local organisations to raise awareness and provide easy access to a broader range of sustainable programs.
