We know that positive mental health and wellbeing is a key focus for many people in our local communities. As a Principal Partner of Lifeline Australia, our shared goal is to keep our communities connected and safe.
We promote Lifeline Australia’s crisis support and prevention services through our digital channels and create opportunities for customers to engage with mental health and wellbeing information and content in our destinations. We also provide rental assistance for the space occupied by its crisis call centre at Westfield Bondi, contribute financial donations on behalf of our customers aligned to campaigns throughout the year and make it easy for customers to donate to Lifeline while in our destinations.
Through the Westfield Local Heroes program we support local organisations working in the space of mental health and wellbeing. Since we introduced the Westfield Local Heroes program in 2018, we have provided more than $900,000 in community grants to heroes and finalists working in the mental health and wellbeing space.
Building the confidence and skills of our team members to engage and support people in our Westfield destinations who may be experiencing mental health distress is also an important focus for us. We created bespoke Mental Health First Aid training in 2021 and continue to train our team members.
