Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, equity and inclusion underpins our culture.

For us, diversity means recognising and valuing the contribution of people with different backgrounds, different perspectives and experiences.

Equity means we support each of our people to recognise their individual circumstances, and to help them overcome any personal challenges or barriers so they can realise their unique potential.

Inclusion means we ensure that all our peoples’ differences are welcome and respected.

Why be Vanilla?

Employee led working groups

We have seven employee-led diversity, equity and inclusion working groups. Each working group is charged with identifying and implementing strategies to achieve our commitment to be a diverse, equitable, inclusive and supportive workplace.

Our diversity, equity and inclusion working groups are:

  1. All Abilities

  2. Domestic & Family Violence

  3. Gender Equity

  4. LGBTI+

  5. Mental Health and Wellbeing

  6. Multicultural Capabilities

  7. Reconciliation Action Plan.

Part of our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion is having leading people policies and guidelines in place.

These include:

  • Life Leave Policy provides eligible team members with an additional five days of paid leave per year, pro-rated for part-time team members, aimed at helping our people achieve a better work life balance.

  • Parental Leave Policy offering 18 weeks gender neutral parental leave with no qualifying period and four weeks paid leave for secondary carers. The policy also includes support for stillbirth, premature birth, IVF treatment and foster care/adoption.

  • Domestic & Family Violence Policy providing financial and non-financial assistance for employees.

  • Workplace Adjustment Guidelines detailing modifications to our work practices and physical work environment to enable people with disabilities to perform in their roles.

  • Gender Affirmation/Transition Guidelines to provide tailored support to the individual and education for their team.

  • Flexible Working Arrangements all the ways we can accommodate flexibility for people so they can balance their personal and work priorities.
